Milo Hermel

MILO DEAN HERMEL, age 87 of Waterville, died on Sunday, March 20, 2016, at Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna.

Born in Cordova Township, Minnesota on July 10, 1928, Milo was the son of Louis and Addie (Peach) Hermel.  He attended country school before entering Waterville High School.  Milo married Joan Gregor at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Waterville on November 21, 1950.  They made their home and raised their family together in the Waterville area where Milo farmed all his life.  Milo also worked for H&S Logging in Waterville, Green Giant Canning in Montgomery, and for the WEM School district for a time – all jobs that he enjoyed.  Milo had served for nearly a decade on the Kilkenny town board, he loved following WEM Buccaneer Sports, enjoyed old-time music, and he could often be found fishing with friends.  He was a member of St. Canice Catholic Church in Kilkenny where he was active with the Mens Club.

Milo is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Joan Hermel of Waterville; four children, Jeanie Dutton of Owatonna, Linden (Carol) Hermel of LeSueur, Lori (Dave) DeMars of Waterville, and Rob (Cathy) Hermel of Waterville; seven grandchildren and nine step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and ten step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by both of his parents; his step-mother, Elizabeth (King) Hermel; one brother, Marvin Hermel; one step-brother, Kenneth King; two granddaughters, Jennifer Hermel and Stacy Hermel; and two sons-in-law, Bill Bonser and Ron Dutton.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:30AM on Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at St. Canice Catholic Church in Kilkenny, with Rev. Victor Valencia officiating.  Visitation will be held from 9:30AM until the time of the service on Tuesday.  Interment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Kilkenny.
